FAVELA EXPERIENCE

Melanin Travels Magic.com, the Black heritage specialist Tour operator agency for the black diaspora, is proud to present you this unique experience around the hills of Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. You will discover the historical background of the favela, the social impact, and the art and culture within those neighborhoods built on the hills of Brazil's most famous cities.

The tour explains the historical context of how the favelas emerged, shows the reality of today, and without romanticizing we tell things as they are. Showing that besides poverty, there is art, culture, and the main thing: wonderful people who make a difference.

This is an introduction to a Brazilian lifestyle.

Using live video conferencing software and live streaming on site we will personally deliver a virtual tour of the Brazil FAVELAS scene!

Tatiane virtually from Rio de Janeiro will tell you the history behind the name of the favela and show the most popular and touristic favelas in the Wonderful City.

Sayuri will be Live Streaming from one favela in Salvador, from Comunidade Solar do Unhao that became famous for being featured in the NetFlix Street Food in South America - maybe one day you will come and join a real tour and eat the yummy muqueca of Dona Suzana? She is a Multilingual Digital Marketer and experienced traveler, having visited about 20 countries in the last 6 years as either a solo traveler or a part of a group. My travels have taken me to most of the places around Africa, Latin America, North America, and the Caribbean.

She has lived in 4 European countries France, UK, Germany, and Netherlands, and have learned and studied different languages along the way. I am a passionate individual and so enthusiastic about exploring new countries and learning about other people's cultures.

She is originally the French Caribbean, born in Paris, but from Guadeloupe island, next to Dominica and St Martin.

• As a Pan Africanist, I’ve recently set up Melanin Travels Magic to help the Afro Caribbean Diaspora to discover, explore and connect with other Black nation's diversity in culture, language, and traditions.

- TATIANA ARAUJO

Tour Guide, Visual Artist, and Traveler.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, at the age of nine she moved with her family to Italy, in Rome, where she completed her studies and graduated in Sciences of Tourism in 2011. For three years she traveled and lived in different places around the world such as Nova York, London, Lugano, and Barcelona. During her travels, she fell in love with the world of the arts and since then she has acted in different fields, from classical painting on canvas, through ceramics to street art. Back in Brazil in 2013, she graduated as a national and regional tour guide. Tatiane loves to combine her profession with the arts, promoting experience tourism centered on the city's cosmopolitan and artistic life, so in 2016 she created RioArtExperience receptive tourism company specialized in art and experience tours.

She can guide you in Portuguese, Italian, Spanish or English!
