Dembis Thioung collaborates with London's finest Senegalese soul food, The Little Baobab, offering a full sensory experience in Peckham Levels. Featuring PENCHMI, a West African-based drum + dance circle, BENE TALLY BAND & friends, a unique open-to-all inclusive music performance, complemented by soul-nourishing Senegalese cuisine, creating an explosion of flavor, culture, and fun.

Dembis Thioung, a mesmerizing master of the dunduns, the melodic and hypnotic West African bass drums make up the HEARTBEAT, the MELODY and the SOUL of traditional ensemble music, invites you on a timeless and spaceless journey to embody traditional rhythms, activate collective remembrance, and manifest ancestral desires for peace, celebrating togetherness and honoring unity in diversity.

Irineu Nogueira & Dembis Thioung have collaborated for nearly a decade during Irineu’s London chapter hosting weekly ABIEIÉ dance classes at The Place and Siobhan Davies, all over Europe and the Caribbean building a strong bond. Irineu is a well respected multidisciplinary master movement artist, specializes in dance education blending contemporary techniques with Afro-Brazilian traditions creating a unique methodology for the body, while also being praised for his contributions to Samba and Afro-Brazilian culture in the international scene. Gather around a nourishing meal of your choice, London's finest Senegalese soul food, and strengthen your bonds with the members of the community honoring and celebrating shared experiences. Veg option available. £9-15

7-9pm - BENE TALLY BAND & TRIBO BAND:

Bene Tally Band represents a profound convergence of music, community and divine energy. Their collective expression serves as a conduit to uplift, inspire and invite participants to tap into their own creative energy through sound, body movement and spirituality.

TRIBO BAND is a London-based samba-reggae music organization rooted in the traditions of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, led by Marcos Santana.Tribo Band members have participated in PENCHMI drum + dance circles in the park on multiple occasions building a strong bond. Both Tribo and Bene Tally bands showcased their talents and creations at the tribute festival to Carlinhos Brown at The Tabernacle in December 2021, bridging back the soulful sounds and movements from West African & Afro Brazilian cultures together.
