How to create an event

Creating, editing and publishing an event on AfroMoya is pretty simple. Log in to your account, click “Create an Event” and get started!
 

1. Log in to / Create your Account

 

2. Click “Create an Event”

  • Enter your event title (you can modify it later in the creation process)
  • The Original URL is created automatically (you can modify it later in the creation process)
  • Click “Create your Event” – you will receive an email confirmation
     

3. Add your Event Details

  • Event Title: (Re)enter it – Use up until 75 characters.
  • Venue:
    • Select one used in the past from the drop-down menu, OR
    • Click “Create New Venue” to enter a new venue, OR
    • Click “Online Event” for virtual events.
  • Location:
    • Enter it or click on ‘Can’t find your location’ to enter the address manually.
    • Click on “Show map on event page” if you want to display it.
  • Time Zone (Optional):
    • Choose the local time zone of your event location.
    • Click on “Date & Time Settings” to display time information on your event page.
  • Date & Time: Enter the start date and time and end date and time of your event.
  • Image flyer (Optional): Upload an event flyer if you have one, in JPG, PNG or GIF format and which does not exceed 2MB.
  • Event Audio (Optional): Upload an audio file which does not exceed 100MB.
  • Event Description: List the basic information about your event (Location, Time, FAQ, refund policy etc), along with essential information the attendees might expect or wish (Agenda, Special Guests, Sponsors etc). You can add related pictures (make sure you have the legal right to use them).
  • Organiser: Select your main organiser profile (See section How to Create your Profile Organiser) or click ‘Add new’ to create a new profile for the event you are creating. You can a description of you/your activity and add links to your website and/or social media pages, pictures, videos etc.

 

4. Create Tickets

  • Ticket type and the currency:
    • Free ticket: The buyer will not have to pay anything.
    • Paid ticket: The buyer pays the defined amount for admission.
    • Donation ticket: The buyer chooses the amount to give to obtain the ticket
    • Choose the currency.
  • Ticket name: It will appear on the printed ticket
  • Quantity: Set a quantity of available tickets for each category of tickets
  • Settings: Click to add a ticket description, set an availability time frame and a quantity per order limit for each ticket type, choose how to manage the service fees
  • Fees:
    • Choose to pass them to the buyer, OR
    • Choose to absorb them, OR
    • Customise the choice for each ticket type
  • Display Sales End: Choose to display on the event page when the sales has ended

 

5. Create an Event Webpage

  • Facebook Event link (Optional): add your Facebook event link if you have one
  • Listing privacy: Indicate if your event is public or private
  • Category: Select one from the drop-down menu (add a description of each category somewhere?)
  • Event type: Select one from the drop-down menu
  • Tick the box to show on the event page the number of tickets remaining for each ticket category
  • Original Url: keep the pre-entered one (Event Name per default) or customise it
  • Customise Web Address (Optional): Choose an alternative customised web address
  • Tick to give the option to pay at the event instead of online
  • Tick to enable your refund policy
  • Write your refund policy

 

6. Save / Make Event Live

  • Save your work to edit later or click “Make event Live” to publish your event.
  • Saved (and not published) events will appear in the drafts in the ‘My Event’ section of your profile
